About PDF Print E-mail

For more than twenty years, Monica Todoran has been writing across two continents and three languages. She has gone from a teaching career to that of an IT project manager, taking a few necessary turns in between. The invariable rule in her life has been, however, her writing abilities - that have spared her of many troubles and gotten her through many doors.

She likes to remember the carefully crafted letter that allowed her to bend some university graduation rules for her own benefit; the copy that instantly opened the door to the board of her favorite cultural association; or the paper that earned her a much coveted teaching position for which she competed against 120 other teachers.

Formal recognition of her abilities has been generous. For three years, she was one of the winners of a highly-regarded national literary contest in her native Romania; she owes her Highest Distinction in French Language obtained near Bruxelles, Belgium to her insatiable writing appetite not to be stopped at only one language. She has written more than 100 book reviews for a branch of a national radio station in Eastern Europe.

Monica learned the intricacies of human learning while obtaining her degree and working as an elementary school teacher; she owes her technical insight to her university degree in Computer Science; her familiarity with the corporate world to her General Motors temporary position in Michigan; and most of her experience and her best years in the business world to API Network, an IT company whose no-nonsense approach changed her outlook on how to do business - and her life.

She has the rare advantage of having been on both sides of the professional fence: the technical and the creative. The combination has proved powerful. She structures her writing like an engineer, and revives tired words with a poet's flair.

Monica has a definite dislike for cliches, and knows one when she sees it. She finds it difficult to live without professional accomplishments, and spends her workdays making sure that will not happen.

She is now living in Wisconsin. She spends her time doing freelance writing, web development, and writing a book on parenting with insights she can no longer keep for herself.
